who am i

I’m a freelance IT journalist – well, perhaps technical writer is a more accurate description because I don’t get that involved with news any more. It’s mainly feature writing and, recently, columns. But I didn’t start as a writer. I actually began my career in IT fixing computers and peripheral devices down to component level – soldering iron in one hand, oscilloscope in the other and logic diagrams nearby. I’ve also dabbled in software development and keep my hand in with the odd application here and there – although I must admit that I’m finding less and less time for that these days.

What this means is I know a little about a lot and I have opinions that have taken many years to form. Having said that, I’m always willing to learn new stuff so if you think I’ve got something wrong or am being overly biased, by all means let me know either by posting a comment or emailing me.
